From the neighborhood, White Oak residents can smell the aroma of cherry, hickory, and oak woods burning from a custom made smoker. Then the sultry smell of smoked ribs, pork butts, brisket, and chicken is just the ticket that draws many customers to Woots BBQ located in the White Oak Shopping Plaza on Cheviot Road.
Anthony Wooten is the owner and barbeque chef at Woots BBQ and Catering. Growing up one of nine children in Kinston, a small town in eastern North Carolina, he learned to cook at an early age. His mother and father shared many family recipes, but it was his father who ultimately taught him the art of cooking Carolina style barbeque.
Anthony has always desired to introduce his Carolina style or barbeque to Cincinnati. While working at P&G, he often cooked his signature barbeque dishes for corporate gatherings and private events. In 2010, Anthony officially began Woots BBQ and Catering which initially serviced catered events and local festivals. In October of 2012, he retired from P&G and devoted 100% of his time to making his dream of opening a barbeque restaurant a reality. In December of 2013, with God’s blessings, Anthony opened Woots BBQ and Catering, Inc, a small carry-out spot located at 5826 Cheviot Road in the White Oak Shopping Plaza. As customers patronized Woots carry-out, many expressed the desire to have a place to sit with family and friends to enjoy their wood smoked, brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken.<br<
Anthony listened to the requests of his customers and in October 2014, Woots BBQ Dine-in opened adjacent to the carry-out location. Now families, friends, and businesses have a beautiful, quaint, homey dining atmosphere to enjoy that good, southern barbeque.
Woots BBQ and Catering specializes in wood smoked, brisket, St Louis style barbeque ribs, mouthwatering pulled pork, and Woots own signature smoked-deep-fried chicken, which has become a huge favorite among Woots customers.
Woots smoked-fried-chicken was created when Anthony wanted something “different” to eat for dinner. So after smoking his chicken in his wood smoker for a few hours, he dropped it in the deep fryer for about three minutes. He then placed it on the indoor grill and based it with one of his signature sauces. No additional breading or batter was added. And pow! Instantly, Woots smoked-fried-chicken was born. Dine-in or carry-out guests can top their barbeque with one of Woots special blended sauces, mild or spicy.
In addition to, wood smoked brisket, ribs, pull pork and smoked-fried-chicken, Woots dinner side dishes include fresh collard greens, homemade, cheesy macaroni and cheese, homemade cole slaw and baked beans, string beans , potato salad, and Woots amazingly moist homemade corn muffins.
Woots BBQ is reasonably priced and located just minutes from I275 and 74. When you want that good, wood smoked, southern barbeque, call your order in, drop by or dine-in at Woots BBQ and Catering 5826 Cheviot Road in the White Oak Shopping Plaza, Cincinnati, Ohio..
